Wednesday evening, February 27th, Phil Foell, IFI City Director and several others will be sharing details about IFI’s ministry to international students. IFI is a Christian organization that works in partnership with universities and volunteers to promote friendship and hospitality for international students, scholars and family members. IFI has been reaching out “to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international students” for 40 years and has found favor with university departments and student groups at OSU. Many students desire to be part of IFI's activities, connect with American volunteers, and learn about the Bible. IFI links international students with American volunteers from local churches who are interested in cross-cultural exchange and who help meet the various practical needs internationals face while living in another culture.
There are over 7,000 internationals in the Central Ohio area. There are various ways to serve and different commitment levels. Examples include preparing food for a Bible Study discussion group, helping behind the scenes at outreach events, making care packages, inviting students to join your holiday meal and meeting regularly for conversation.
Mission: To extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international students out of reverence for Jesus
Vision: God’s love extended globally in partnership with spiritually vibrant international students
Maranatha has had people working with IFI since at least 2003 when Megan Hause volunteered, followed by Dustin and Theresa Hoffman in 2007, and Tim and Judith Kenoyer in 2009 plus others.
