VBS Mystery Island

With no crops to tend, what does a gardener do during the cold months of winter? It is a time of preparation and hopeful expectation for the growing seasons ahead. In 1 Corinthians 3:6, Paul described himself as a spiritual gardener: “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” The same is true for us! In these winter months, we begin preparing for the spiritual harvest that we hope to reap through our summer ministry.

One summer ministry that has great potential for growth is our VBS. This year VBS will be June 22-26, 2020 with the VBS picnic to follow on June 28. The theme will be Mystery Island: tracking down the one true God. Mystery Island VBS is packed with teaching that connects the Bible to the real world and gives kids a better understanding of our awe-inspiring Creator and the salvation he offers through Jesus Christ. Each day, kids will learn more about one of God’s amazing attributes (great, almighty, ruler, Emmanuel, trustworthy) and how that applies to their lives.

We hope that this ministry will accomplish two things:

1) Deepen our bonds as a church as we serve together, deploying our specific gifts

2) Make disciples of the nations.

Last year, of the 200 children registered, we had 12 families who indicated that they didn’t have a normal Church home. Our prayer is that God would help draw those families into a saving relationship with Jesus.

No matter what your spiritual gift or skills, there is a place for everyone to serve in VBS. Whether you like teaching children, have musical gifts, like playing games, doing crafts, or maybe just like working behind the scenes – we need your help to make VBS happen!

Watch for more info in the coming weeks on volunteer sign up, as well as some training opportunities coming later this Spring. Jesus told us that, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. May we be faithful to answer His call and see the abounding harvest!
